Campus Amphitheater to Serve the Public Soon

The campus amphitheater which is the project of the AUP Alumni Home Chapter will be inaugurated this coming March, 2007, William "Bill" Galang, AUP Alumni Home Base chapter president said. The construction of the facility is steadily in progress under his supervision as head of the AUP maintenance dept. and develpment personnel.

The area is strategically located a few meters below the water park and adjacent to the psychology building along the road going to the College of Dentistry .. At the moment phase one of the project is almost complete with a podium area, backstage, paved flooring lights, and cemented/marble benches. The seed money for the benches was from the project donation of the graduating class “3G” 2006. Around 18 more benches at 5,000 pesos each are still waiting for more AUP alumni: individual, group and family donors so that their name/s may be inscribed on the marble plates to be inlayed on the center of each bench, Bill expressed his family's support by sponsoring one.

Among other features open for sponsorship are the sound control booth constructed behind the benches, facing the performers and a sound system that can be used even when it rains. Mr. Galang further disclosed that trees in the area are left uncut to create a natural canopy during the summer; and at the end of the construction of phase one; the Soli Deo Gloria woodwind ensemble conducted by Prof. Ramon Lijauco Sr. will present a concert to inaugurate the project.

Tanada Prepares Students for Carnegie Hall Performance

Under the direction of Dr. Noemi Tañada, a group of Broadview Academy students are preparing to perform at the world famous Carnegie Hall on April 24, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. in New York City. The performance will take place in the Isaac Stern Auditorium, the largest hall at Carnegie Hall. This auditorium has been the premier classical music performance space in the United States since its opening in 1891. These singers will join with others to form a symphonic choir of outstanding high school, university, adult and masterwork ensembles selected throughout North America. The invitation has provided a very rare opportunity for Dr. Tañada to lead Broadview students in this opportunity of a lifetime.
Not only will the students soar musically in a stimulating performance experience and have an opportunity to use their musical talents through an exciting, meaningful, and most memorable experience, they are also planning to have an impact on New York spiritually. Mingled in with the planned instructive activities, intense rehearsals and the performance, the students will be sharing the book Steps to Christ (the book used in our Fall Week of Spiritual Emphasis).
It is exciting to see Broadview students having the opportunity to be ambassadors for God as they share in an experience of a lifetime!
We welcome your support of Broadview Academy students, stepping out in this adventure with prayers and finances. Please consider making Broadview Academy a serious part of your prayer ministry; we encourage that. Also, to complete the trip, more financial support is needed. As the Lord directs, please know that your gifts will go towards making memories to last a lifetime and dreams come true!
[Dr. Tanada, an alumna of MVC (BMME ’72) and AUP (MA’92), served as music director and assistant professor at various Adventist institutions in the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States. In Thailand, she was invited to conduct the 100-member choir in Bangkok during the celebration of the King’s 50 years of Glory in the Thailand Cultural Center. During the 2006 EASNAC convention, she was awarded as one of the outstanding AUP alumni. She currently works as music director and teacher at Broadview Academy in Chicago, Illinois.Editor]

This short video was prepared by a sheriff's office in Florida but is certainly appropriate no matter where we live. New concepts of thievery have a way of spreading. It just takes two minutes but I'm sure you won't think your time is wasted.
Stay safe!
