AUP Academy Batch 1960 and 1992 Visit AUP
Led by Dr. Memo Ado Verdan, class president PUCA batch 1960 along with some members of their families visited AUP on February 9, Sabbath day. The group entered the campus before 10 a .m. ; just in time to attend the hour of worship service at the Philippine International Church. Members of batch 1960 were warmly received by the Academy faculty and AUP brethren at PIC. They were given button pins that read “Welcome Batch 1960, Mabuhay!” as they were ushered on to reserved seats in front of the symphonic band which was composed mainly of Academy students and alumni and was conducted by Maestro Ramon Lijauco Sr. Singing the offertory music was a mass choir conducted by Ramon "Bojo" Lijauco and which was composed of 3-4 choirs and chorale groups on campus including the Academy choir. Batch 60 had the privilege to listen to the college Week of Prayer speaker Pastor Gerson Gomez, an evangelist from USA.
Batch ’60 had lunch with the Academy faculty and some alumni in the Academy building, where they saw one of the on going projects, the Academy gym. Against a huge welcome tarpaulin backdrop, short messages were said by each of the members of the group concerning their impressions of the school, memories of their high school life and advice to the present faculty. After lunch they had a tour around the campus. Before leaving the area, they left an initial contribution for their batch project for the Academy.
From AUP those present during at lunchtime were Leo Arit, president of the Academy Alumni Association, and some Academy alumni, Johnny Guyo one of the editors of the AUP Cyberlink, Elmie Lagajino, Academy principal and the Academy faculty, staff and family members. Family members of Batch ’60 are as follows: Dr. Memo Ado Verdan and Mrs. Bella Verdan, Oscar and Lucille Fauni, Mr. and Mrs. Teresa Arevalo and Romeo Torres, Mr, and Mrs, Annie Sarno and Rodolfo Quion, Mr.and Mrs. Rafael and Ester Umali, Victoria Bamfield, Abner and Eleonor Gensolin Velasco, Alfreda Flor Capobres Sidharan, Editah Macabagdal Francisco, Cherry Liwag Curameng, and Dr. Ernie Banaag.
Prior to Batch 1960's visit, some Academy Diamond Batch 1992 members stopped by the academy on their way to their batch reunion on the third week of January, 2008. Coming from their busy active working schedules, they took time out to talk about their participation in the March 22 grand alumni homecoming. The young alumni are composed of medical doctors, nurses, professors, businessmen and a lawyer. They had a chat with the principal, reminisced memories while looking at old Academy photo albums, and laughed at their younger and innocent faces..
